Obama gets dismissed from jury duty in Chicago

Former President Obama Reports For Jury Duty

Former President Barack Obama reported for jury duty Wednesday morning at the Daley Center downtown.

Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans shared with the outlet that Obama was dismissed from taking part in the jury process.

Before leaving, Obama shook hands and signed autographs for potential jurors, according to USA Today.

Obama watched the entire 20-minute educational video during his time at the Daley Center, Evans said. He made his way to the 17th floor of the building, where he proceeded to shake hands with hundreds of people there to fulfill that very same responsibility. "No one is excused", Evans said after Obama's departure.

With his Russian Federation ties under scrutiny, Page said in September 2016 that he was taking a leave from the campaign. That didn't stop him from traveling to Russian Federation again in December 2016.

It is a mandatory requirement for U.S. citizens to attend for jury duty when they are summoned. When he arrived there was a feeding frenzy as crowds of people inside the courthouse took photos and videos of the former president.

Obama now lives in Washington DC, with his family, so it's probably time to change his address. Mr Obama's predecessor in the White House, George W Bush, responded to a jury summons in 2015.

Bill Clinton also appeared as a prospective juror in a federal court in Manhattan, New York City in 2003, though he was not selected either to sit on a jury.

Theoretically, every US citizen over the age of 18 could be called for jury duty. A decade later, Lawrence Tureaud, better known as Mr. T, showed up to a suburban Chicago courthouse for jury duty, sporting his usual Mohawk, but without the gold chains for which he is known.
