AC/DC's Malcolm Young Laid To Rest Following Private Funeral

Large crowds have gathered at St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney to farewell rock legend and AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young.

The memorial was attended by various current and former AC/DC members, including Malcolm's brother Angus Young, his nephew Stevie Young, singer Brian Johnson, drummer Phil Rudd and, according to, bassists Cliff Williams and Mark Evans. Guests were given a memorial booklet which included a black guitar pick, with one side featuring the letters "M" and "Y", split by the AC/DC thunderbolt graphic, and the other carrying Young's birth and death dates of January 6, 1953 and November 18, 2017.

Young was celebrated as a "generous" man with "immense talent".

That band played "It's A Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock "n" Roll)" as the casket was led to a hearse, which was unadorned.

Hundreds of fans had formed queues in the streets near the church to see the coffin of Young's cast in its last home, while a band playing orchestrated Australian "unofficial national anthem", Waltzing Matilda, the AAP.
