Rangers target Derek McInnes won't be taking Aberdeen's media conference this afternoon

Derek Mc Innes was approached by Rangers over the vacant manager role at Ibrox

The disruption caused by McInnes' constant links with the Rangers vacancy has frustrated and angered both the Dons boss and his chairman.

Though they have been below par in recent years, Rangers are traditionally one of the biggest clubs in Scottish football and this will make the prospect of managing them something attractive for Mclnnes.

Commenting on the decision, chairman Stewart Milne said in a statement: "As everyone is aware, Rangers made an approach on Tuesday evening and they were refused permission to speak with Derek".

Despite Aberdeen's stance, The Times report Rangers could confirm the appointment of McInnes today.

Sheerin and Robson both took the Reds through training today for the second successive day in the absence of McInnes and assistant Tony Docherty.

And Milne's patience will be tested further after preparation for the Dens Park showdown was left in the hands of first-team coach Barry Robson and under-20s boss Paul Sheerin on Wednesday.

North Korea's latest missile test raises safety concerns for civilian flights
North Korea launched an ICBM last week that was witnessed by a passenger plane's flight crew. The chances are "billions to one", aviation safety analyst David Soucie told CNN.

There is a release clause of £1 million in McInnes' contract, which runs until 2020, to secure the Dons boss and his No.2.

The Dons travel to face Dundee in the Premiership on Friday.

He started off his managerial career at St Johnstone before moving south of the border for a failed spell at Bristol City.

DEREK MCINNES will be absent from Aberdeen's pre-match press conference this afternoon as talks over his future continue.

Sheerin told reporters: "There will be a resolution on the manager sometime today and we're preparing for the game tomorrow night".

"I've spoken to Derek about the game tomorrow and not about anything else".
