No new conditions on North Korea before talks

S. Korea's Spy Chief Meets Japanese Foreign Minister to Brief on N. Korea

North Koreans are taught to believe that the reclusive state's founding leader, Kim Il Sung, fought against Japanese forces at Mount Baekdu, the highest mountain on the Korean Peninsula.

The Korean peninsula has been split since the end of the World War II, with a Soviet- and Chinese-linked communist regime in the North and a US-linked democratic nation in the South. The only major difference now is that North Korea is reportedly researching intercontinental ballistic missiles that can reach the mainland United States with their nuclear payloads.

"Whether they have achieved everything they need to do is still unknown", he said. "If this is carried out, Western countries trading with the U.S. and many steelmakers and aluminum producers will suffer significant damage".

"(We) agreed that we will not repeat our past mistakes and continue putting maximum pressure to realise the abandonment (of Pyongyang's) nuclear and missile programme".

'We have not seen nor received an official response from the North Korean regime regarding the North Korea-U.S. summit, ' said Baik Tae-hyun, spokesman for the ministry, in a regular press conference. In 1994, President Bill Clinton agreed to provide North Korea with $4 billion in energy aid in exchange for...wait for it...denuclearization. "I would say just remain patient and we'll see what happens".

Many Democrats as well as Mr Trump's fellow Republicans said the U.S. should have demanded concessions before granting North Korea a meeting.

"What does North Korea mean by the suggestion that it will consider denuclearization as a condition for these talks?" she added.

North Korea has a history of deceit and can not be trusted despite claims it wants to talk peace, says a national security analyst.

NCAA Women's Basketball Bracket 2018
The NCAA revealed Sunday night the final eight teams under consideration for the last four spots in the tournament. Louisville won the ACC for the first time this season and earned its first No. 1 seed.

Later, at a political rally in Pennsylvania, when Trump mentioned Kim's name, the crowd booed.

Kono also refrained from confirming whether Kim had a specific message to convey to Abe, although he said Suh gave him a detailed explanation of the Pyongyang talks.

The officials say Trump told Netanyahu that until now the three European powers only proposed "cosmetic changes" that he doesn't find satisfactory.

The two Koreas have been bitterly divided since the end of the Korean War in 1953, and tensions have escalated since the North began to aggressively pursue the development of nuclear weapons.

A Pentagon spokesperson decline to confirm what military assets would take part in the drills, but United States officials have said that the USA will continue its strategy of flexing its military muscle towards North Korea until Kim shows he's serious about giving up his nuclear ambitions.

"After watching the successful launch of the new type ICBM Hwasong-15", North Korean state media reported.

Trump made the announcement after the head of a South Korean delegation that met Kim last week said the North Korean leader had committed to denuclearization and pledged to refrain from nuclear and missile tests.
