California DA: Kids shot with crossbows, waterboarded

Allen was arrested last week on child endangerment and torture charges. His wife, Ina Rogers, was also arrested but was able to leave the jail after she posted bond.

Questions remain as to how the children and the alleged abuse went undetected for years until March 31, when police responding to a missing juvenile report entered the house in suburban Fairfield, California, about 46 miles (74 kilometers) northeast of San Francisco.

KRON4's Lydia Pantazes is at the courthouse this morning.

Ten children have been removed from a home in Fairfield, California, where police say they were tortured, burned, beaten and even shot with a pellet gun while living amid squalor and abuse of all kinds.

Jonathan Allen, left, and Ina Rogers, right, were arrested after police found 10 children living in "horrible" conditions in their Fairfield, California home. They were also physically abused for a "sadistic objective", said Solano County Chief Deputy District Attorney Sharon Henry. When she was later asked why all 10 children slept in a single room while the other bedrooms were used as the parents' quarters, a "meditation room" and a playroom, Rogers replied that the children liked it that way.

Rogers told reporters Monday that the allegations against her and her husband are false. Allen, a year younger than Rogers, is the father of eight of the children, she said. He is being held on $5.2 million bail.

Magney was coming home from church one day at the end of March, he said, and found Rogers "running around the neighborhood" in search of her 12-year-old.

The children did not require medical attention when they were removed, but stories about abuse came out gradually over the past six weeks and eight of the children told professionals about incidents dating back several years, authorities said. Rogers denied the children were mistreatment.

Atilla was neither a chief architect nor a beneficiary of the various schemes", the judge said. There was no immediate response to the sentencing from the Turkish government or Halkbank.

She said she first got pregnant when she was 16 and that she has 11 biological children. The children, authorities said, were home-schooled.

All 10 children were placed into the care of the Solano County Child Welfare office. Officials took pictures of the children and interviewed them individually, she said.

Har reported from San Francisco. Neighbors say the grandmother is very loving, taking the children to school and on errands since both parents are in jail. Her attorney argued bail should be what she could afford at $50,000 saying, she's not a threat to the community. "I was afraid that I could not find him", she told reporters. Rogers' family, including her brother and sister, sat in shock during the hearing.

"There's no broken bones, there is no major scars, nothing", Rogers said.

She also told ABC 7 News that she was being judged for homeschooling her children.

This booking mug released May 14, 2018, by the Solano County Sheriff's Office shows Jonathan Allen. One neighbor, Larry Magney, who lives across the street, said Allen and Rogers moved in about a year ago.

Rogers said she works as an EKG technician at a heart monitoring company and her husband is a tattoo artist.
