Raccoon scales St. Paul office tower, captivating public

Raccoon Scaling St. Paul Skyscraper Sets Off Social Media Firestorm

NPR reports the raccoon was first spotted on Monday, when it was only two floors up on the outside of the Town Square building. The story was picked up by Minnesota Public Radio and the raccoon's saga - with the hashtag "mprraccoon" went viral.

A raccoon scaling the side of a skyscraper Tuesday has people all across the country watching its every move with bated breath.

MPR News has branded the courageous climbing coon #mprracoon.

The #mprraccoon peers inside a law firm on the 23rd floor of the UBS Bank building on Tuesday.

A raccoon stretched out on a windowsill high above downtown St. Paul, Minn.

"We've been getting calls and texts from all over the country and the world", St. Paul mayor Melvin Carter said at an impromptu press conference Wednesday morning.

Italy to Ferry Migrants It Rejected to Spain
Under global law, people rescued at sea should be brought to the nearest and safest port for assistance. The passengers had been rescued in six different operations , according to SOS Mediterranée.

St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter spun its adventure as a positive for the city's tourism industry - proof that even a raccoon knew Minnesota's capital "is a great place to reach for higher heights". There was little firefighters could do from behind a sealed window, but cat food awaits the critter if (and when!) he's able to get up there.

Meanwhile, someone who also is decidedly not the raccoon started a rival Twitter account.

The raccoon became stranded on the ledge of an office building several days ago, according to Minnesota Public Radio reporter Tim Nelson.

A raccoon scaled a skyscraper in Minnesota, on Tuesday, managing to climb at least 20 storeys on UBS Tower as onlookers snapped photos from outside and within the structure.

The raccoon started to climb the 20-plus story UBS Tower in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, on Tuesday, pulling a regular Tom Cruise with almost vertical climbing abilities. Soon after sharing it, she tweeted her concerns for the raccoon's safety.
