Staffers must tape back together presidential records Trump rips up, report says

So to avoid clashing with the law, some staffers have taped his pieces back together "like a jigsaw puzzle", Solomon Lartey, a former records management analyst, told Politico.

He told Politico that the documents included newspaper clips that Mr Trump had scribbled notes on and letters from politicians including Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer.

"That is a million-dollar question that I have yet to get an answer to", Young said. "It was the craziest thing ever". Instead, aides reportedly clean up Trump's paper scraps - which range from papers that are torn in two and thrown in the trash to documents that have been ripped into tiny pieces that resemble confetti and tossed on the floor - and ship them over to the records office, according to the people familiar with the task.

The White House did not respond to a request for comment about the practice.

All documents must be preserved under the Presidential Records Act.

But White House aides had a hard time convincing Trump to ditch the habit, so they improvised.

Reginald Young was a senior records management analyst who worked for the U.S. government for more than 20 years before being sacked in April. "You found pieces and taped them back together and then you gave it back to the supervisor".

Nurse will be judged on his ability to guide Toronto deeper into the postseason before its core passes its prime. He is the franchise's all-time leader in wins, winning percentage, games coached and playoff games coached (51).

Lartey said the entire White House records management department was tasked with reassembling the documents with Scotch tape.

Politico first reported the efforts made by record-keeping officials in the Trump administration to tape back together papers Trump destroyed.

Lartey said he was just a few years away from his retiring with full benefits when the Trump administration fired him.

"We're making more than $60,000 a year, we need to be doing far more important things than this".

'It felt like the lowest form of work you can take on without having to empty the trash cans'.

Lartey and Young claimed that they were ultimately rewarded for this indignity by being forced to sign resignation letters earlier this year without being given any indication as to why they were getting axed.

Mr Lartey has worked for other presidents but said he has never had to do anything similar. "I asked them, 'Why can't you all tell me something?' I had gotten comfortable".
