Trump Predicts 'Tremendous Success' In Summit With Kim

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and President Trump in Singapore on June 12

Third, North Korea reaffirms the Panumunjom Declaration signed with South Korea, and commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

Photographs of Trump and Kim Jong Un crowded the first half of Wednesday's six-page Rodong Sinmun, the pair in various situations at the summit venue in Singapore.

Trump, who returned to Washington early on Wednesday, hailed the meeting with Kim - the first between a sitting U.S. president and a North Korean leader - as a success that had removed the North Korean threat.

"There is not a gram of fissile material either moving out or likely to move out of North Korea".

Trump and Kim Jong Un have now parted ways, since Singapore is 12 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time, and are heading home, but here's a round up of the biggest moments from their time together.

In a separate tweet Wednesday, Trump addressed the issue, saying that the USA would "save a fortune" by not holding the "war games".

There were worries, especially in Tokyo and Seoul, which have huge U.S. military presences, about Trump agreeing to halt United States military exercises with South Korea, which the North has long claimed were invasion preparations.

In a study published last week in the North Korea-focused 38 North website, USA analyst Joseph S. Bermudez Jr. said recent commercial satellite images showed the North was razing a missile test stand near the northwest city of Kusong.

It may not have been the focus of the summit, but Korean War vets and their families were hoping the issue would come up.

Also Russian-made, the IL-76 is believed to have carried food items, vehicles, authorised weapons and other supplies for Mr Kim, who signed a historic agreement with Mr Trump after their summit, which began at 9am and ended at around 2pm.

Measure to split California into 3 states qualifies for November ballot
The CAL3 initiative has gathered 600,000 signatures, 235,000 more than required to qualify for the ballot. Critics of the initiative say having three Californias would actually diminish the power of Democrats.

Backdrops of U.S. and North Korean flags, both red white and blue, were also prominent in the Rodong Sinmun, which has previously lashed the United States as a "gangster-like imperialist", and "cancer-like entity".

After successful cooperation at the Olympics, Jae-in sent special envoys to North Korea who later traveled to Washington with Kim's proposal for a summit with Trump. North Korea has long objected to the drills as a security threat. Pompeo was slated to fly on to Beijing later Thursday.

Lederman reported from Seoul, South Korea.

The US stations about 30,000 troops in security ally South Korea to protect it from its neighbour, which invaded it in 1950 in an attempt to reunify the peninsula by force.

US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis's chief spokeswoman, Dana W White, told reporters he was "in full alignment" with Mr Trump.

There is a precedent for cancelling joint exercises to encourage talks.

The president called his meeting with Kim "honest, direct and productive", and said Pyongyang promised to a "major missile site" though this was agreed after the deal was signed, explaining its absence from the document. The next scheduled major exercise, involving tens of thousands of troops, normally would be held in August.

Before leaving Singapore, Trump suggested a sequel as he talked about hosting Kim at the White House. Pompeo held firm to Trump's position that sanctions will remain in place until North Korea denuclearizes - and said they would even increase if diplomatic discussions did not progress positively.

"I was surprised", he said, according to a report by Breaking Defense.

Adam Mount, a US defence analyst, expressed anger about seeing the USA and North Korean flags side by side. "Moon, and then Trump, were quick to bite on North Korea's invitation for talks". He said he planned to continue sharing the view with Washington and Seoul.
