Rhino poachers killed by lions at a South African game reserve

The human remains were found on 3 July, when they said one of the guides of the reserve.

At this point in the investigation, it's unclear how many poachers were killed by the lions.

After ensuring the lions were not a threat to tourists, Fox said there will not be any changes to "the status quo of our lions".

The general consensus in the game industry is that lions view a game viewing vehicle containing people as something entirely different from individuals who are walking on the ground.

"At the moment we can't tell you how many of them [the poachers]".

"They came heavily armed with hunting rifles and axes which we have recovered and enough food to last them for several days so we suspect they were after all of our rhinos here".

"They strayed into a pride of lions - it's a big pride so they didn't have too much time", Mr Fox told AFP news agency.

Sibuya owner Nick Fox said it was impossible to know how many poachers actually might have been eaten.

North Korea says USA position on denuclearization "regrettable" after Pompeo talks
Pompeo is in Tokyo to brief his Japanese and South Korean counterparts on the talks, which he has characterised as productive. She said the dinner lasted an hour and 45 minutes and at times the two were "cracking jokes" and "exchanging pleasantries".

"I was immediately called to the scene where, along with the Anti-Poaching Unit, we found the high-powered rifle, gloves, wire cutters and the remains of a backpack with food, water and other supplies", Fox said Thursday.

"But the lions are our watchers and guardians and they picked the wrong pride and became a meal".

His reserve lost three rhinos in March 2016, when poachers hacked off their horns.

This is not the first time lions have turned the tables on poachers. These items are standard for poachers intending to kill rhinos and remove their horns.

"Investigators and specialists combed the scene and managed to retrieve remains, which were taken by the Department of Health to conduct forensic testing", South African Police Service Captain Mali Govender said in a statement.

A group of poachers illegally entered a South African reserve and planned to kill rhinos.

Police have been patrolling the area in case any of the suspected poachers survived.

Poaching is a major issue on the Eastern Cape with nine rhinos killed by illegal hunters on reserves this year.
