Thai cave rescue sees four more boys freed

Provincial Gov. Narongsak Osatanakorn at a news conference

The operation led by British cave divers alongside Thai Navy SEALs will have to return to the cave tomorrow, racing time, dropping oxygen levels and the rains, to rescue the remaining four boys and their coach.

Officials were not immediately available to comment on who had been brought out, and their condition was unclear. A person with knowledge of the rescue said just before the eleventh person was spotted, that 10 people had been brought out.

Somboon Sompiangjai, 38, the father of one of the trapped boys, said parents had been told by rescuers that the "strongest children" would be brought out first.

In the past two days, eight boys were rescued and are now in a hospital isolation ward while they are tested for any possible infections.

Thongchai Lertwilairatanapong, Inspector General of the public health ministry, said the first four - aged 14 to 16 - taken out on Sunday were eating normal, plain food. There are all kinds of diseases in the cave, from bats, from dirty water.

The mission to save all the trapped is a race against the clock with heavy rain expected this week which would again flood the tunnels with fast-flowing, rising water.

Mr Narongsak said about 100 people were involved in the operation on Tuesday, including the 19 divers newly sent into the flooded cave.

Police have now confirmed that a woman suspected of having taken part in the vandalism has now been identified. I think we can do that successfully", Southgate state. "We've had the chance to make a difference.

The Thai Navy Seals have also published dramatic footage of the operation itself, showing how expert divers navigated the Wild Boar football team through the perilous journey to the surface. Other divers were on guard along the risky first kilometer of the passageway. However, doctors later relented after some of the boys asked for bread with chocolate topping.

Their families were being kept at a distance because of fears of infection and the emaciated-looking boys were eating a rice-based porridge because they were still too weak to take regular food, authorities said.

Thais reacted with relief, gratitude and exhilaration on Wednesday after the successful rescue of the last group of 12 boys and their soccer coach from a flooded cave complex, ending a 17-day ordeal that gripped Thailand and the world.

Classmates of the trapped boys at Mae Sai Prasitsart school, close to the caves, pray after their teacher announced that more of the footballers had been rescued.

An global team of rescuers has been in Thailand since the discovery of the stranded football team and their coach, assisting the Thai Navy SEALs in their rescue efforts.

Rescue teams plan third day of mission to free remaining members of Wild Boars soccer team; Jeff Paul reports from Thailand. "Leaving here in case it may be useful in the future".
